How to Calculate and Solve for Relative Compact Density | Powder Metallurgy

Last Updated on December 10, 2021

The image above represents relative compact density.

To compute for relative compact density, three essential parameters are needed and these parameters are Constant for Stress Parameter (K), Pressing Pressure (P) and Compacting Module (B).

The formula for calculating relative compact density:

ρt = KPB

Where:

ρt = Relative Compact Density
K = Constant for Stress Parameter
P = Pressing Pressure
B = Compacting Module

Let’s solve an example;
Find the relative compact density when the constant for stress parameter is 4, the pressing parameter is 8 and the compacting module is 2.

This implies that;

K = Constant for Stress Parameter = 4
P = Pressing Pressure = 8
B = Compacting Module = 2

ρt = KPB
ρt = (4)(8)2
ρt = (4)(64)
ρt = 256

Therefore, the relative compact density is 256 Kg/m³.

Nickzom Calculator – The Calculator Encyclopedia is capable of calculating the relative compact density.
