The formula for calculating enrichment ratio:

r = c / f

Where:

r = Enrichment Ratio
c = Assay of Concentrate
f = Assay of Feed

Let’s solve an example;
Find the enrichment ratio when the assay of concentrate is 21 and the assay of feed is 7.

This implies that;

c = Assay of Concentrate = 21
f = Assay of Feed = 7

That is, r = c / f
r = 21 / 7
r = 3

Therefore, the enrichment ratio is 3.

Calculating the Assay of Concentrate when the Enrichment Ratio and the Assay of Feed are Given

c = rf

Where:

c = Assay of Concentrate
r = Enrichment Ratio
f = Assay of Feed

Let’s solve an example;
With an enrichment ratio of 12 and an assay of feed of 4. Find the assay of concentrate?

This implies that;

r = Enrichment Ratio = 12
f = Assay of Feed = 4

c = rf
So, c = 12(4)
c = 48

Therefore, the enrichment ratio is 48.

Calculating the Assay of Feed when the Enrichment Ratio and the Assay of Concentrate are Given

f = c / r

Where:

f = Assay of Feed
r = Enrichment Ratio
c = Assay of Concentrate

Let’s solve an example;
Find the assay of feed when the enrichment ratio is 8 and the assay of concentrate is 40.

This implies that;

r = Enrichment Ratio = 8
c = Assay of Concentrate = 40

f = c / r
So, f = 40 / 8
f = 5

Therefore, the assay of feed is 5.
