Let’s solve an example;
Find the basin length when the unit inflow rate is 2, the advance time is 3, the manning’s co-efficient is 4, the inflow rate is 6, parameter is 8, the parameter is 10 and the parameter is 5.

This implies that;

Q_n = Unit Inflow Rate = 2
T_t = Advance Time = 3
n = Manning’s Co-efficient = 4
Q = Inflow Rate = 6
a = Parameter = 8
b = Parameter = 10
And then l = Parameter = 5

L = ^6E4Q_nT_t / _{[^aTtb/(l + b)] + (1798n^3/8Qn^3/8Tt^3/16)}
L = ^6E4(2)(3) / _{[^(8)(3)(10)/(5 + 10)] + (1798(4)^3/8 . (2)^9/16 . (3)^3/16)}
That is, L = ³⁶⁰⁰⁰⁰ / _{[²⁴⁰/15] + (1798(1.68) . (2.739) . (1.228))}
L = ³⁶⁰⁰⁰⁰ / _{[16] + (3023.86 (2.739)(1.228))}
L = ³⁶⁰⁰⁰⁰ / _{16 + 10179.64}
So, L = ³⁶⁰⁰⁰⁰ / _10195.64
L = 35.30

Therefore, the basin length is 35.30.
