How to Calculate and Solve for pH of Concentrates | Mineral Processing

Last Updated on December 10, 2021

The image above represents pH of concentrates.

To compute for pH of concentrates, one essential parameter is needed and this parameter is Concentration of Hydrogen ions Present in the Solution or Concentrates [H+].

The formula for calculating pH of concentrates:

pH = -log[H+]

Where:

pH = pH of Concentrates
[H+] = Concentration of Hydrogen ions Present in the Solution or Concentrates

Let’s solve an example;
Find the pH of concentrates when the concentration of hydrogen ions present in the solution or concentrates is 10.

This implies that;

[H+] = Concentration of Hydrogen ions Present in the Solution or Concentrates = 10

pH = -log[H+]
pH = -log(10)
pH = -(1)
pH = -1

Therefore, the pH of concentrates is -1.
