How to Calculate and Solve for Bubble Velocity | Fluidization

To compute for bubble velocity, two essential parameters are needed and these parameters are Velocity of Fluidizing in Air (vB) and Acceleration due to Gravity (g).

The formula for calculating bubble velocity:

ub = 0.792vB1/6g1/2

Where:

ub = Bubble Velocity
vB = Velocity of Fluidizing in Air
g = Acceleration due to Gravity

Let’s solve an example;
Find the bubble velocity when the velocity of fluidizing in air is 21 and the acceleration due to gravity is 10.

This implies that;

vB = Velocity of Fluidizing in Air = 21
g = Acceleration due to Gravity = 10

ub = 0.792vB1/6g1/2
ub = 0.792(21)1/6(10)1/2
ub = 0.792(1.66)(3.16)
ub = 4.160

Therefore, the bubble velocity is 4.160 m/s.
