Where:

P_s = Piston Speed
L = Piston Stroke
N = Engine Revolution per Minute

Let’s solve an example;
Find the piston speed when the piston speed is 24 and the engine revolution per minute is 8.

This implies that;

L = Piston Stroke = 24
N = Engine Revolution per Minute = 8

P_s = 2LN
That is, P_s = 2(24)(8)
P_s = 384

Therefore, the piston speed is 384.

Calculating the Piston Stroke when the Piston Speed and the Engine Revolution per Minute are Given

L = ^P_s / _2N

Where;

L = Piston Stroke
P_s = Piston Speed
N = Engine Revolution per Minute

Let’s solve an example;
Find the piston stroke when the piston speed is 88 and the engine revolution per minute is 11.

This implies that;

P_s = Piston Speed = 88
N = Engine Revolution per Minute = 11

L = ^P_s / _2N
Then, L = ⁸⁸ / _{2 x 11}
L = ⁸⁸ / ₂₂
L = 4

Therefore, the piston stroke is 4.

Calculating the Engine Revolution per Minute when the Piston Speed and the Piston Stroke are Given

N = ^P_s / _2L

Where;

N = Engine Revolution per Minute
P_s = Piston Speed
L = Piston Stroke

Let’s solve an example;
Find the engine revolution per minute when the piston speed is 60 and the piston stroke is 10.

This implies that;

P_s = Piston Speed = 60
L = Piston Stroke = 10

N = ^P_s / _2L
N = ⁶⁰ / _{2 x 10}
So, N = ⁶⁰ / ₂₀
N = 3

Therefore, the engine revolution per minute is 3.
