The image above represents body diffusion. To calculate body diffusion, three essential parameters are needed and these parameters are Concentration at Depth x (Cx), Concentration at the Surface of the Body (Csand Initial Concentration (Co).

The formula for calculating body diffusion:

B.D. = (Cx – Co)/(Cs – Co)

Where:

B.D. = Body Diffusion
Cx = Concentration at Depth x
Cs = Concentration at the Surface of the Body
And then, Co = Initial Concentration

Let’s solve an example;
Find the body diffusion when the concentration at depth x is 5, the concentration at the surface of the body is 10 and the initial concentration is 2.

This implies that;

Cx = Concentration at Depth x = 5
Cs = Concentration at the Surface of the Body = 10
And also, Co = Initial Concentration = 2

B.D. = (Cx – Co)/(Cs – Co)
B.D. = (5 – 2)/(10 – 2)
That is, B.D. = (3)/(8)
B.D. = 0.375

Therefore, the body diffusion is 0.375.
