How to Calculate and Solve for Liquid Mass Fraction | Phase Transformation

Last Updated on December 10, 2022

The image of liquid mass fraction is represented below.

To compute for liquid mass fraction, two essential parameters are needed and these parameters are Solid Phase (S) and Phase at Lever Rule (R).

The formula for calculating liquid mass fraction:

WL = S/(R + S)

Where:

WL = Liquid Mass Fraction
R = Phase at Lever Rule
S = Solid Phase

Let’s solve an example;
Find the liquid mass fraction when the phase at lever rule is 12 and the solid phase is 10.

This implies that;

R = Phase at Lever Rule = 12
S = Solid Phase = 10

WL = S/(R + S)
WL = 12/(10 + 12)
WL = 12/(22)
WL = 0.5454

Therefore, the liquid mass fraction is 0.5454.

Nickzom Calculator – The Calculator Encyclopedia is capable of calculating the liquid mass fraction.
