How to Calculate and Solve for Spreading Coefficient | Mineral Processing

Last Updated on December 7, 2021

The image above represents spreading coefficient.

To compute for spreading coefficient, two essential parameters are needed and these parameters are Work of Adhesion per Unit Area (WAB) and Work of Cohesion per Unit Area (W).

The formula for calculating spreading coefficient:

S = WAB – W

Where:

S = Spreading Coefficient
WAB = Work of Adhesion per Unit Area
W = Work of Cohesion per Unit Area

Let’s solve an example;
Find the spreading coefficient when the work of adhesion per unit area is 12 and the work of cohesion per unit area is 6.

This implies that;

WAB = Work of Adhesion per Unit Area = 12
W = Work of Cohesion per Unit Area = 6

S = WAB – W
S = 12 – 6
S = 6

Therefore, the spreading coefficient is 6.

Nickzom Calculator – The Calculator Encyclopedia is capable of calculating the spreading coefficient.

To get the answer and workings of the spreading coefficient using the Nickzom Calculator – The Calculator Encyclopedia. First, you need to obtain the app.

You can get this app via any of these means:

Web – https://www.nickzom.org/calculator-plus

Now, Click on Spreading Coefficient under Mineral Processing

The screenshot below displays the page or activity to enter your values, to get the answer for the spreading coefficient according to the respective parameter which is the Work of Adhesion per Unit Area (WAB) and Work of Cohesion per Unit Area (W).

Now, enter the values appropriately and accordingly for the parameters as required by the Work of Adhesion per Unit Area (WAB) is 12 and Work of Cohesion per Unit Area (W) is 6.

Finally, Click on Calculate

As you can see from the screenshot above, Nickzom Calculator– The Calculator Encyclopedia solves for the spreading coefficient and presents the formula, workings and steps too.
